Christek Moulds

We have been over here at No.5, Bharathiyar 2nd Cross Street for a while now. Padi is a busy place, and Srinivasa Nagar usually has a lot going on with all the small shops around. Christek Moulds isn't a big, fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It is a workshop where we get our hands dirty every single day. Mostly, you will find us hunched over machines or checking the details on a new mould. Some days the power goes out or a machine acts up, and we just have to figure it out as we go. It’s a lot of metal, a bit of oil, and a lot of standing around talking about how to fix a specific problem. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to get through the orders we have on the bench. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and that’s the highlight of the afternoon. People in the neighborhood know us as the guys who are always working late. The floor is usually covered in shavings, and the air smells like cutting fluid. It’s just how it is here. If you walk down the street, you’ll hear the noise long before you see the sign. It’s hard work, and it can be frustrating when a design doesn’t go right the first time, but we stay until it’s sorted out. That’s just life in Padi for us.
