Einstien Biomedical Research Centre

Einstien Biomedical Research Centre is located at 8 B Neelagandan Street in Choolaimedu. It sounds like a big name, but we’re actually a pretty modest setup. We’ve got our lab equipment and our desks all packed into this space. Choolaimedu is a busy residential area, so it’s a bit unusual to have a research place right here, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time looking at samples and writing down notes. It’s quiet work, mostly. Sometimes we’re here late into the night if an experiment is running. We don’t have a big reception area or a sign with flashing lights. Most of the people living on Neelagandan Street probably don’t even know exactly what we’re doing inside. We’re just trying to figure out some small parts of how biology works. It’s not always exciting; there’s a lot of waiting and cleaning the glassware. We keep things pretty informal among the staff. We’ve got a small kettle for tea and a few chairs in the corner. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We just show up in our regular clothes and get to work. Sometimes the equipment breaks down and we have to fix it ourselves. It’s just a normal part of running a small research center in a place like this. We like the neighborhood, even if parking is a nightmare. It's just where we happen to be.
