Operation Theater

Operation Theater is our place at No.18 on 13th Cross Street in Chennai. It’s in the 600020 area, and if you’ve ever walked down these streets, you know they can be a bit of a maze. The name sometimes makes people think we are a hospital, but we are actually a creative and production space. We chose this spot because it’s a bit removed from the main road noise, which is helpful for the kind of work we do. The building is just a regular house that we’ve turned into a workspace. Inside, it’s a bit of a mess with cables, equipment, and desks everywhere. We don't really care much about having a polished look. We care more about getting the projects finished. We spend a lot of our time sitting around the big table or staring at monitors. It’s a very hands-on environment. Sometimes we have people coming in for meetings, and we just pull up whatever chairs are available. It’s a very casual atmosphere. We don't have a formal dress code or anything like that. Most days we are just wearing t-shirts and drinking way too much tea. We’ve been at this for a while, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. Despite the changes, we’ve stayed here because it feels right. It’s a practical, no-nonsense space for people who just want to get things made and move on to the next task.
