If you know the Ashok Nagar area in Kodambakkam, you are probably aware of how busy the streets get around there. Our workshop is located at number 85. It’s a very traditional engineering setup. There is a lot of metal lying around, the smell of oil and grease is everywhere, and you can always hear the sound of machines running in the background. We have been operating in Chennai for many years now. The heat inside the workshop can become quite intense during the month of May, but we just keep the industrial fans blowing and get on with the job. We handle a lot of different engineering projects, mostly the heavier stuff that involves a lot of welding and metal cutting. It certainly isn't a clean job, so you won’t see anyone walking around here in a suit. Most of us have grease on our hands and clothes by the time ten o’clock rolls around. The street outside is constantly full of traffic, with bikes buzzing past and people walking toward the nearby station. We have a crew of local guys who have been doing this type of manual work since they were quite young. We don’t spend much time sitting in front of computers unless there is some billing to finish. Mostly, we are out on the floor making sure the parts are being made correctly. It’s a bit crowded sometimes when we have big orders, but it’s just a normal Chennai workshop doing its daily work.
