Bombay Tools Centre

Broadway is always a bit of a mess with all the people and the boxes being moved around, but that is where we are. Our address says Old No 97 and New No 193, which confuses some of the delivery guys who are new to the area. We have been at this spot for a long time, even keeping that P O Box No 2001 for the mail. Bombay Tools Centre is mostly just shelves and shelves of heavy metal items. It smells like machine oil and old paper in here. Most days are spent digging through the back to find a specific size of something a customer asked for. We don't have a fancy display window or anything like that. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks from where heavy crates dropped over the years. It gets pretty loud outside with the horns and the shouting in the market, but you get used to it after a week. We just open up the shutters in the morning and start checking the inventory. If someone needs a tool for a big project, they usually find their way to us because we have been in this specific Broadway building forever. It is a lot of manual work, lifting things and writing out receipts by hand on the counter. We don't use much technology here, just the basics to keep things moving along. It is an honest way to spend the day among the crowds.
