If you come down to Muthamil Nagar in Kodungaiyur, you will find us on 9th Street. It is a bit of a residential area, so it stays relatively calm compared to the main roads of Chennai. The office is at number 1 654. We handle a lot of the general insurance paperwork here for people in the neighborhood and surrounding parts of the city. Usually, the day starts with opening up the shutters and dusting off the desks. There is always a lot of paper to sort through because insurance involves so many forms and signatures. We aren't a big fancy operation with hundreds of people; it’s just a small group of us sitting here. We have a few fans going to deal with the Chennai heat, which can get pretty intense in the middle of the day. People often drop by to ask about their policies or how to file a claim when something goes wrong. We try to explain things clearly without using too much complicated talk. It’s a basic setup with some metal cupboards for the files and a couple of computers that have seen better days. Sometimes the internet is slow, but we manage. Most of the people who come in are our neighbors or folks who live a few streets over. We just keep things moving and make sure the records are updated. It is honest work and we stay busy from morning until evening.
