If you head down to 173 Agharam Road in the Selaiyur area of Tambaram, you will see the Bharath Instituteof Science & Technology(Biher). It is a very large place with several big buildings that house different science departments. Since the focus is on science and technology, there is almost always some kind of experiment or project happening in the labs. The campus is usually buzzing with students running between the library and their next class throughout the day. It can get quite hot in this part of Chennai, so the stone corridors are a welcome relief from the sun during the afternoon. We have a lot of different people working here, from the cleaners who keep the halls tidy to the professors who have been teaching here for decades. The canteen is a popular spot for everyone to grab a quick meal or a tea when they have a short break. We have a lot of computers and laboratory equipment that get used from morning until evening. It is not a quiet place by any means; there is always the sound of voices and the clatter of feet on the stairs. We do not worry much about looking perfect or polished; we just want to make sure the equipment is working and the students have what they need to study. It is a busy, functional place that plays a big role in the lives of many young people.
