Ashwin Ceramics

We are tucked away in Choolaimedu on a street called Annanedumpathai. It’s a typical Chennai neighborhood, busy and a little cramped. We deal in ceramics at Ashwin Ceramics, mostly things for houses like sinks or tiles. The shop is small and we have stuff stacked up to the ceiling sometimes. You have to be careful when you walk around so you don’t knock anything over. It’s mostly just me and a cousin running the place. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who live nearby. They tell us about their renovation projects or the leaks they’re trying to fix. We don't have any corporate training, we just learned as we went along. The heat in Choolaimedu can be something else, so we have a small fan that barely does the job. We get our stock from different places and try to keep a variety so people have choices. It’s not a high-end gallery, just a local shop where you can find what you need for your bathroom or kitchen. We know the tea seller down the street and the people at the corner store. It’s a good community to be part of. We don't use big words to describe our shop. It’s just a place where we sell ceramics and try to be helpful. Sometimes we get deliveries late at night, and we have to stay to unload everything.
