We’ve been here at 156/1 Jayanth Colony for a long time. It’s right on the 20th Main Road in Anna Nagar West, so there is always a lot of noise from the cars passing by outside. Most days start around eight in the morning when we pull up the shutters. It’s just a small trading setup, really. We spend most of our time counting stock or talking to the delivery guys who drop things off. The office part is a bit messy with papers everywhere, but we know where everything is. It’s not one of those polished corporate places you see in the big buildings. We just handle the goods and get them to where they need to go. Sometimes the heat gets a bit much, especially in the afternoons, so we sit under the old fan and drink tea. Our neighbors in the colony are mostly families, and they’ve grown used to the trucks coming in and out. We don’t do anything too fancy here. It is just about keeping the items moving and making sure the shop stays open. My nephew helps out sometimes when things get real busy. We’ve seen Anna Nagar change from a quiet place to what it is now, but our little corner remains pretty much the same as it was ten years ago. It’s a bit dusty and the paint is peeling in some spots, but it’s home for the business.
