Arul Appalam

Arul Appalam is our small business located at 3/43, E.V.R. Periyar Street in Gandhi Nagar, Palavakkam. We make appalams here, and the smell of the ingredients is usually the first thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a hands-on kind of job. We spend our days preparing the dough and getting everything ready. The space isn’t very large, so we have to be smart about how we use it. We’ve been in Palavakkam for a long time, and many of the neighbors know us by now. It’s not a factory with huge machines; it’s more about the people working together to get the batches finished. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, like when it’s too humid, but we manage. We aren't trying to be a massive corporation. We just want to make good appalams that people enjoy having with their meals. Our address on E.V.R. Periyar Street is where everything happens, from the mixing to the packing. You’ll often find us busy in the back, making sure everything looks right before it goes in the bag. It’s hard work, and our hands are always busy, but it feels good to see the finished product go out. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been here doing this for years and people know where to find us if they want some. It's a simple, honest way to make a living.
