Anand Engineering Works

We are over at No. 25 on 3rd Street, just off Kamaraj Road in the Tass Industrial Estate. That’s in Ambattur, near the Sidco area. If you’ve ever been to this part of Chennai, you know how busy it gets with all the factories. Anand Engineering Works is right in the thick of it. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. It’s a regular shop floor with various machines and a small corner for the desk work. We don't have a lobby or anything like that. When people come by, they usually just walk straight to the back where the work is happening. The air is always a bit metallic and there’s usually a radio playing somewhere in the background. We have a small crew of guys who have been with us for years. They know the machines better than anyone. We don't spend money on big signs or advertising. Word of mouth has always been enough for us. Sometimes the power goes out or a machine breaks down, and we just deal with it. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know the tea seller down the road and the guys at the hardware store nearby. It’s a community of makers. We just focus on the task at hand and try to stay busy. It’s a simple life, and it keeps us satisfied at the end of the day.
