You can find us at number four on Kallupillai Street, over in the New Washermenpet area. It’s one of those narrow streets where everyone is living and working right on top of each other. We’ve been here for a long time, and the neighbors all know the sound of our cranes starting up early in the morning. It’s not always easy moving heavy equipment through these streets, but we’ve gotten pretty good at it over the years. The office is just a small room at the front of the property. It’s got a couple of old wooden desks and a calendar from three years ago still hanging on the wall because nobody bothered to take it down. We spend a lot of time sitting on the bench outside when it’s hot, waiting for the next call to come in. The air smells like the sea sometimes, and there’s always someone walking by to say hello. We don’t have any big corporate signs or fancy brochures. People know who we are by the work we do and the fact that we’ve stayed in the same spot for so long. It’s a bit cramped and messy with all the spare parts and cables lying around, but it works for us. We just focus on keeping the machines running and helping out whoever calls. There is no point in making things more complicated than they are.
