Robotics Engineering

Our workshop is located at No. 48 Vellalar Street in Adambakkam. We are quite close to the St. Thomas Mount Railway Station, so the sound of the trains is a regular part of our day. Robotics Engineering isn't a place with clean white floors and glass walls. It’s more of a garage feel with tools scattered on workbenches and metal scraps in the corners. There is usually someone soldering something or testing a motor on the floor. It gets pretty hot in here during the summer because the ceiling is low, so we keep the big fans running constantly. Being near the station is great for the staff who commute, but it means the street stays busy. We do a lot of our own repairs on the equipment we use. It is a very hands-on environment. Most of us have grease on our hands by lunchtime. We don't have a formal meeting room, so we just talk over whatever project is on the bench at the time. It’s a bit chaotic, but we manage to get things built. People who come to visit are usually surprised by how much we fit into such a small space. We aren't big on titles or formal roles here. Everyone just jumps in to help when a problem needs solving. It’s a real, working engineering shop in the middle of a residential street.
