Srm Medical College

Living and working around Srm Medical College means you’re always in the middle of something happening. We’re specifically based out of No. 402 A Block Staff Quarters, which is right there by the hospital in Pother, Chennai. If you’ve ever been to this part of Tamil Nadu, you know the humidity is no joke. The staff quarters are where many of us stay, so the commute to the hospital is just a short walk, which is a blessing when the sun is out. The hospital itself is always buzzing with people coming in from all over the region. You hear the ambulances and the general chatter of the crowds all day long. In the quarters, it’s a bit quieter, but you still feel like you’re part of the institution. We see the medical students rushing to their clinicals and the doctors heading to their shifts at all hours. It’s a bit of a maze here with all the different blocks and wings. Our spot in the 603203 area is convenient for the staff, even if the buildings are older and the elevators are a bit slow sometimes. We share tea in the break rooms and talk about the daily grind. It’s a demanding environment, being attached to a medical college, but it’s the life we’ve got here in Chennai. There is always someone new arriving and someone else leaving for their shift, so the cycle never really stops.
