We are located right on Rajiv Gandhi Salai, which most people just call OMR. It’s a long stretch of road and we’re right in the middle of all the development happening there. Chettinad Academy Of Research And Education is a big place with lots of different buildings and departments. You see students and researchers walking around all the time with their bags and notebooks. It’s a bit of a walk from the main gate to the back offices. We have a lot of trees on the campus, which helps with the heat, but it’s still pretty warm most of the year. The labs and classrooms are always busy. You can hear the hum of the air conditioners from the hallways. We spend a lot of time in meetings or sitting at the library desks. The canteen is the main spot where everyone gathers. The coffee there is okay if you get it fresh. We have people from all over coming here to study or work on projects. It’s not a quiet place, there’s always something going on, like a seminar or just students hanging out between classes. The traffic on OMR can be a nightmare in the evenings, so many of us stay late to avoid the rush. It’s just part of being in this area. We focus on the books and the research and try to keep things moving forward as best as we can.
