Bean Tree Pre School

Our little pre-school is located at No.129/1 on Lake Avenue. It is right in the middle of the Bazaar area in Chengalpattu. Since we are situated in the heart of the bazaar, it is always quite lively and loud outside our doors. There are many shops, vendors, and people moving around everywhere you look. The school building is tucked in among various other houses and small stores. It is a small place, which is actually perfect for the little children we look after every day. We have a few rooms that we have set up specifically for the kids to use. They are quite colorful but they do not look professional or like a designer did them. We just used what materials we had available at the time. The kids come in the morning and they usually have a lot of energy to burn. We spend most of the time playing simple games and singing different songs. It gets a bit noisy at times, especially when they are all excited. We have a couple of teachers who are very patient with the little ones. They live nearby in Chengalpattu themselves so they know the area well. We do not have a big playground of our own, just a small area where the kids can play safely under our watch. Sometimes we take them for a very short walk if the bazaar street isn't too crowded that day. The parents are mostly local shopkeepers or people working in the town nearby.
