Yuvraj Gajak Bhandar

We are located right in the middle of the Manimajra Electronics Market near Mori Gate. It’s a very busy area with cars and scooters always trying to get through the narrow lanes. Our shop is known for gajak, and we spend a lot of time getting the texture just right. It’s a lot of manual labor, stirring the jaggery and mixing in the seeds while it’s still hot. You have to be careful not to burn it. In the winter, the smell of the sweets travels quite far down the street. The shop is small and filled with containers and boxes stacked up high. We don't have much room for people to sit, so most customers just grab what they need and head out. Sometimes the market gets so crowded that the delivery trucks can't even get close to our door. We’ve been here for years, and we know most of the other shopkeepers around Mori Gate. It’s a loud place to work, but you get used to the shouting and the horns after a while. We don't use any fancy machines; it’s mostly just us working with our hands. My hands are usually sticky by the end of the shift. We just focus on making enough to keep the shelves full because it sells out fast when the weather gets cold. It’s a honest living and we just keep at it every day. The floor gets a bit dusty but we sweep it often.
