If you come by Sector 41 on C M H Road, you will see our storage space at number 42. It is usually filled with folded tents, stacked chairs, and big cooking pots. We spend a lot of our time out on the road, setting things up for different events. It is hard work because the poles are heavy and the fabric for the tents is bulky to carry. We have to make sure everything is tied down properly so it doesn't move. The kitchen staff starts early, chopping vegetables and getting the stoves going. It’s a lot of sweating over big fires and making sure the gas cylinders are full. Sometimes we have to work through the night if there is an early morning event the next day. The uniforms get stained with gravy and grease, but that’s just part of the job. We don’t have a fancy office for meetings; we usually just talk to people right there among the equipment or over the phone. Everything has to be loaded into the trucks in a certain order or it won't all fit. It’s a bit like a puzzle every time we pack up. We just try to get the stuff where it needs to go on time. By the time we get back from a job, we’re usually covered in dust. We just unload the trucks and get ready to do it all again for the next person.
