If you walk around Sector 29 D near plot 52, you’ll probably see our trucks or some of the guys loading up heavy metal poles. This business is mostly about manual labor and getting things done before the sun goes down. We handle a lot of tents and seating arrangements for whatever is happening in the neighborhood. Some days are slow, but when the wedding season hits, it gets really hectic around here. My phone rings at all hours with people asking if we have enough chairs or if the waterproof covers are actually waterproof. We spend a lot of time out in the heat, hammering stakes into the ground and making sure the fabric is pulled tight so nothing flops over. It’s honest work, even if it leaves us pretty tired by the end of the week. The warehouse in Sector 29 is where we keep all the bulk stuff piled up. It’s not a very neat place, to be honest. There are stacks of folded carpets and bundles of rope everywhere you look. We try to keep track of everything, but sometimes a pole goes missing or a curtain gets a small tear that needs fixing. We just do our best to get the setups ready on time. People just want their event to happen without the tent falling down, and that’s what we focus on every day.
