Sher E Punjab Tent Decorators is over in Sector 45, at SCO 232 on Siddivinayaka Nagar Road. It’s a big space because we need room for all the heavy poles, the iron frames, and the stacks of carpets. When you walk in, you’ll see piles of colorful fabric waiting to be washed or folded. It’s not the cleanest place in the world because of all the outdoor work we do. We spend half our lives on ladders or tying knots in ropes. It’s physical labor, pure and simple. During the wedding season, we hardly see our own homes. We’re out there in the heat or the cold, setting up stages and making sure the tents are secure. Sometimes a pipe bends or a piece of cloth gets a snag, and we have to fix it on the spot with whatever we have in the truck. We aren't corporate people with suits; we’re the ones in dusty clothes with hammers in our hands. The office part is just a small corner with a table and a couple of chairs where we talk to people about what they need for their function. We’ve been in this part of Sector 45 for a while now, and we know the streets pretty well. It’s a lot of logistics and hoping the weather stays clear. We just do the work, pack up the trucks, and move on to the next site.
