Rear Capital

If you come looking for Rear Capital, you have to go down into the basement at 144/45 Sector 34. It’s right there at the 3rd Cross on the Outer Ring Road. Being in a basement means we don't get much sun, so we have these bright tubelights on all day. You can hear the hum of the traffic from the road above, especially during the rush hour when everyone is honking. The office isn't very big, but we managed to squeeze in four desks and a lot of metal cabinets. We do a lot of counting and checking numbers here. It’s the kind of work that requires you to stay focused, so it’s usually pretty quiet inside. We have a small kettle in the corner for making coffee because the walk upstairs to the cafe takes too long. The air is a bit stuffy sometimes, so we keep a small fan running near the door. It’s not a glamorous place to work, but it suits what we do. People come down the stairs and they’re always a bit surprised at how much we have packed into this space. We’ve been at this address for a while now and everyone knows the basement spot. We don't have any fancy posters on the walls, just a calendar and some notes taped up. It’s just where we work. We spend eight hours a day here, and by the end, we're ready for some fresh air.
