Roshan Lal Sharma

I’ve been working out of the GPO Building in Sector 17 for a good while now. It’s a busy spot in Chandigarh, especially with everyone coming and going for their mail and paperwork. My space here isn't anything fancy, just a practical setup where things get done every day. Most mornings start with a cup of tea and looking over what needs to be sorted for the day. Being in this part of the city means there is always noise from the street, but you get used to it after a few years. People find me easily enough since everyone knows where the main post office is. It's a solid building, thick walls, keeps the heat out mostly during those really hot June afternoons. I don't spend much time worrying about the decor or how things look to outsiders. It’s more about being present and handling the tasks as they come in. Sometimes the lift acts up, so I end up taking the stairs, which keeps me moving. There are plenty of other folks working around here, so there’s usually someone to chat with during a break. I like the rhythm of this area. It feels like the heart of the division. I just keep my head down, do what I’m supposed to do, and head home when the sun starts to go down. It’s a simple life, really, just keeping things moving in Sector 17.
