About Punjab Sweets – Food & Beverages in Chandigarh
You can find us in the Sector 14 market at Scf-14. Since we are so close to the university area, we get a lot of students coming in looking for something cheap and filling to eat between their classes. It’s a lively spot, and there is always someone talking or laughing near the entrance. We have a few tables where people can sit down, but they’re usually full. The menu is mostly snacks and the usual sweets you find in Punjab. I’m often busy at the back making sure the samosas are being fried properly or checking on the syrup for the gulab jamuns. It gets quite steamy in the kitchen, and we always have the back door open to let some air in. The market itself is an old one, and our shop has that same lived-in feel to it. Nothing is too fancy here. We use heavy metal trays and simple paper bags for packing. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use candles or torches to keep things moving. We’ve seen generations of students come and go, and some of them even come back years later when they’re visiting the city. It’s just a steady, daily routine of cooking and serving. We don't try to be anything we aren't; we just provide what the neighborhood expects from a place like ours. The fan in the corner makes a bit of a clicking noise.
