Pehalwan Caterers & Tent Decorator is located over by Shiv Shakti Mandir on the Old Mundhwa Road in Kharadi. We’ve been operating out of the Pathare Vasthi area in Manimajra for a long time now. Most of our days are spent loading and unloading heavy poles, folded tents, and big metal cooking pots. It’s hard work and it gets quite dusty around here, especially when the wind picks up in the afternoon. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning. Instead, we have a large storage space where everything stays until someone needs it for a wedding or a local function. We handle the food and the setup, making sure there are enough chairs and that the fabric for the tents looks decent enough. It’s a lot of manual labor, but we’ve got a rhythm down. When there’s a big event, things get really hectic and we’re usually working late into the night. We use a lot of spices in our cooking, so the area around our kitchen always smells like cumin and turmeric. Sometimes the truck breaks down or we’re short on hands, but we always manage to get the tent up before the guests arrive. We’re just regular people trying to make a living by helping others host their parties. It isn’t always pretty, but the work is steady and it keeps the whole crew busy throughout the season. We’ve known the neighbors for years and they know where to find us near the temple.
