Down on Manimajra Jewellery Street at number 864, you’ll find our little place called Origami. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside, especially when we have a lot of new stock coming in at once. We’ve got shelves lining every wall, and half the time, I’m the only one who knows exactly where everything is hidden. The street outside is always noisy with people looking at the jewelry shops, so it’s actually kind of peaceful once you step through our door. We spend a lot of our time just sorting through materials and making sure things stay relatively dust-free, though that's a losing battle with the door opening so much. I usually have a radio playing in the background, mostly just for some noise while I work on things. There’s an old stool in the corner where I sit when my legs get tired, though it’s missing a bit of the padding now. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat and avoid the heat for a few minutes. We don’t mind it. It’s a small operation, just us doing what we can with the space we have. We keep a small box of scraps under the main counter for the kids who come in with their parents. It doesn't cost us much and it keeps them busy for a second while we talk. That’s just the kind of place this is. It's simple and it works for us.
