Neeru Devi

The address is 1 Manimajra, and that usually makes people think we are easy to find. We are, but the area is always so crowded that you have to keep your eyes open. Neeru Devi has been running things here with a small group of us helping out. The building is old, and it has that smell of old paper and wood. We don’t have air conditioning that works all the time, so in the summer, we just open the windows and hope for a breeze. We do our work on old desks that have been here since we opened. There is no big mystery to what we do. We just show up every morning and handle whatever comes through the door. Sometimes people come in just to escape the sun for a bit, and we don't mind. We are part of the community here at 1 Manimajra. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just have a calendar and a clock. We try to be honest about how long things take. If a job is going to take a week, we don't say it will be done in two days. People seem to appreciate that. We aren't trying to get rich quick; we just want to keep the lights on and do a good job for the folks who live around here. It’s a simple way to live and work. We have been here for years and hope to be here for many more.
