Maya Garden Apartment

Running things here at Maya Garden Apartment on R C Dutt Road keeps me pretty busy. Our little office is up on the second floor, at number 73. It’s a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens now and then. Manimajra is always crowded, so getting here can be a hassle during peak hours. The noise from the street drifts up, especially the honking from the main road. I’ve lived and worked in this area for years, so I don’t even notice it much anymore. Inside, the space is filled with files and old registers. We handle the day-to-day stuff for the building. It’s a lot of talking to neighbors and fixing small problems that pop up. Sometimes it’s a leaky pipe, other times it’s just someone losing their keys. It’s not a glamorous job, but someone has to do it. The second floor gets quite hot in the summer, so we keep the fans going all day. I usually have my lunch at my desk while looking out at the other buildings. It’s a tight-knit community here, even if people are always in a rush. I know most of the faces that pass by the door. We don't have a fancy reception desk or anything like that. Just a couple of chairs for whoever drops in to chat or pay their dues.
