Down here at Plot No.744 in Industrial Area Phase 2, things are usually loud. Canam Developers Llp is right in the middle of all that activity. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a boutique, but for property development, it’s exactly where we need to be. The walls in the office have some maps tacked up and there’s always a faint smell of exhaust from the trucks passing by outside. We spend our hours looking at sites and making sure the math adds up. It’s hard work and it isn't always pretty. Most of us have been in this industry for a long time, so we don't really notice the noise anymore. We have a big table where we spread out the layouts and sometimes we stay late when a project is at a critical stage. There are no fancy mission statements on the walls, just calendars and to-do lists that keep us on track. Lunch is usually something quick from a nearby stall. We know the neighbors around Plot No.744 and we all pretty much do our own thing. Dealing with land and buildings takes a lot of patience. You have to wait on permits and weather and people. We just take it one day at a time. If the door is open, it means we’re in and probably busy with something. That is just the way we like it because idle time doesn’t build anything. We are just real people trying to get stuff done.
