I’m Archana Kumari, and my place is at 1395 in the Brahmadev Tiwari Chawl in Manimajra, right on Lm Road. It’s a very busy part of town. There are people everywhere, and the noise of the market is always there in the background. My space is small, but I’ve organized it so everything has its place. Working in a chawl means you’re never really alone. You hear your neighbors and you see people going about their business all day. I’ve been living and working here for several years. Lm Road is a major route, so there’s constant movement outside. Inside, I have my table, a few chairs, and the tools I need for my work. It’s not a polished office like you might find in the city center. It’s real and a bit messy sometimes. I like the energy of Manimajra. There’s always something happening. I start my day early before the heat gets too bad. Most of my clients are local people who walk over from nearby streets. We sit and talk while I work. I don’t have any fancy brochures. People know what I do because they see me doing it every day. The building is old, and the hallways are narrow, but it has character. I’ve thought about moving to a bigger shop, but I think I’d miss the people here. It’s where I belong, and it works for me.
