Karol Bagh is a pretty crazy place to do business, but we have been at 17/592 on Joshi Road for quite a while. It is a narrow street and the traffic can be a real nightmare, especially in the late afternoons when everyone is out. Our shop is packed with stock from the floor all the way to the ceiling. There isn’t much room to move around once a few customers walk in at the same time. We deal with all sorts of things, mostly supplies that other enterprises need in a hurry. The walls are lined with wooden shelves that have been there since we first started. We do not have a fancy display or a big neon sign to attract people. Most folks just know the address and look for the number painted on the door. Working in Karol Bagh means you have to be fast and you have to know your stuff. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing out bills by hand at the main counter. It is a very manual process here. The heat in the summer makes the shop feel even smaller than it is, so we keep the doors wide open to get whatever breeze comes down Joshi Road. We have seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but our little spot stays pretty much the same. It is a family-style environment where we all know each other’s business. We just keep moving boxes and helping whoever walks through the door with whatever they happen to be looking for that day.
