Metal Creations

If you go down Galli Number 6 in Bhagat Singh Nagar, you will find us at number 2752. We call it Metal Creations, though it’s really just a workshop where we spend our hours. The street is narrow, so we often have to move things by hand if the vehicles can’t get close. It’s a neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have a few workbenches that are scarred from years of use. There is a lot of hammering and welding that goes on throughout the day. You can see the sparks from the street sometimes. We don't have a professional cleaning crew, so there is usually a layer of dust on the windows. We use old rags to wipe down the machines. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don’t use computers much, mostly just pencils and paper to mark down measurements. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to start over, which is frustrating but part of the process. We have an old radio that plays local stations to keep us company while we work. It’s not a big operation, just a few of us trying to make a living with our hands. We take pride in finishing a job, even if it’s just a simple metal frame. It’s honest work and it fills our days.
