Anup Steels is located at Plot No.10324, down Gali No. 15 in the Motia Khan area. If you find the Jain Mandir, you are pretty much there. It’s a very old part of the neighborhood, and the streets are quite narrow, so you have to be careful when you're driving a truck through. Our plot is basically a big open space filled with steel pipes, bars, and all sorts of metal scraps. It’s been here for quite a long time. The walls are a bit weathered and the gate squeaks every time it opens. We don't have a website or any of those modern things; we just sit in the small cabin at the front and wait for customers to come by. Most of the people who buy from us have been doing so for decades. They know we carry the heavy stuff that’s hard to find elsewhere. It’s a dusty place, especially when the wind picks up, and there’s always the smell of cold metal in the air. We don’t really do fancy sales pitches. If we have the steel you need, we tell you the price and we load it up. Sometimes the tally doesn’t match exactly and we have to recount everything by hand. It’s just the way things go in Motia Khan. We keep the ledger on the desk and mark things off with a pencil. It’s simple and it works for us. We just keep our heads down.
