Amit Metal Works

Amit Metal Works is situated on the Anand Parbat Main Road at A-26. If you know this area, you know it is famous for metal shops and small factories. Being right on the main road means we see everything that goes by, from the rickshaws to the big supply trucks. The noise of the traffic blends in with the sound of our own hammers and machines. At A-26, we have a decent amount of space, but it always feels full once we get the raw materials delivered. Working with metal is hard on the hands and the back, but it is the trade we have stuck with. We don’t have a fancy reception area. If you walk in, you are likely to see someone covered in a bit of soot or grease working on a piece of equipment. That is just the way a metal works shop operates. We keep our tools close and our focus on the task at hand. Anand Parbat is a crowded place, and sometimes it feels like everyone is on top of each other, but there is a good community of workers here. We usually have a tea break in the afternoon when the sun hits the front of the shop. It’s a simple life of measuring, cutting, and shaping things. We don’t use big words to describe it. We just show up every morning and do the work that needs doing until the shutters go down at night.
