Mahender Engineering Works

I spend my days at R 23 in Gali Number 11, which is where Mahender Engineering Works has been for a long time. This part of Anand Parbat is known for its workshops, and we fit right in. My workspace is filled with old tools, heavy machinery, and a lot of grease. I usually have a radio playing somewhere in the back to keep things from being too quiet when I’m working alone. Most of the time, I’m fixing things that people bring in or making small parts for other businesses nearby. It’s heavy work and it takes a toll on the body, but I’ve been doing it so long I don't know anything else. The walls of the shop are stained from years of work, and the floor is never really clean no matter how much I sweep. I like the feeling of finishing a project and seeing it work right. People know to find me here in Gali 11 if they have something that needs a bit of engineering help. I don’t use any computers or high-tech gadgets, just the machines that have served me well for years. It’s a simple setup. Sometimes the traffic in the narrow street makes it hard to even get inside, but that’s just life in Delhi. I open the shutter every morning and just see what the day brings. It is honest work and it keeps the lights on.
