Being in Paharganj Main Bazar at 5094 means there is never a quiet moment in the day. Goel Cottage Handloom is tucked right in the middle of all that chaos and noise. You have the tourists walking by with their big backpacks and the local vendors shouting about fruit or chai. It's a crowded spot. Inside our shop, we have stacks of handloom stuff piled up high. It smells like cotton and old wood in here. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we just sit by the front door where the light is better from the street. We don’t have a big sign or anything, just the number 5094 painted on the wall. My family has been around this area for years. The floor is a bit uneven, and the shelves are heavy with fabric that we have gathered. We spend the day folding and unfolding things for people who wander in. It gets dusty because of the busy street, so we have to clean the front every single morning before we start. It’s a simple life for us. We don’t do much advertising at all. People usually find us because they were already walking through the bazar looking for something else. The tea stall next door is where we get our drinks throughout the day. It’s a tight space, but it works for what we do here. We just keep the handloom tradition going without making a big fuss about it. It’s just us here every day doing the work.
