Connaught Place has changed so much over the years, but we are still here in the Plaza Building. It is shop number 14, which is easy enough to find if you know your way around the circles. Being in CP means we have to deal with the crowds and the parking mess every single day. The building is old and you can really feel that history when you walk in. We have got watches sitting everywhere. Some have been in the glass cases longer than I have been working here. It is actually quite quiet inside compared to all the noise outside on the street. People usually come in looking for a quick battery change or to fix a leather strap their grandfather gave them. We have some old tools that look like they belong in a museum, but they still work perfectly fine for the gears. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit when the old air conditioner kicks on. It is not a shiny mall shop. It smells like old metal and a bit of clock oil. We mostly sit behind the counter and watch the world go by through the front window. Most people outside are in a massive hurry, but we have to take our time with the tiny parts. It is very fiddly work. You need good eyes for it. We do not have a big team, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. That is just life at Anglo-Swiss Watch Co.
