Hindustan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd

Our place is located at Kathara No. 2, right in the Bokaro district of Jharkhand. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but this is where the work happens. Hindustan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd has been a part of this landscape for quite some time now. The post office is just nearby in Kathara, and the police station is also in the vicinity, which makes it feel like a real community hub. The air out here is different than in the big cities, and you can always hear the sounds of machinery or trucks moving around. Our office isn't much to look at. It’s practical, mostly concrete and metal, built to withstand the dust and the heat. We have a small crew, and everyone knows their role. We aren't big on meetings or fancy presentations. Usually, we just talk over a quick cup of tea in the morning and get to it. Sometimes the rain makes the roads a bit muddy, which slows things down, but that’s just part of life in Jharkhand. We’ve had the same sign out front for ages, and it’s a bit faded now. We focus on the iron and steel side of things without making a big fuss about it. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We don't have any fancy awards on the wall, just a few maps and a calendar.
