Carmel School

People in Ambikapur have seen Carmel School here for a long time. It’s just part of the neighborhood now. The morning starts early here when the buses start rolling in. It’s not a very complicated place. We have the usual classrooms and a playground that gets a bit dusty when it hasn't rained in a while. Most of us who work here live nearby, so it feels more like a community than a big institution. The hallways are usually filled with the sound of kids talking or teachers trying to get everyone to sit down. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just teach. There are desks that have seen many years of use, and we keep them as neat as we can. When the weather is nice, the kids like to stay outside as long as possible. Sometimes the bell rings a minute late because the person in charge got busy with something else. That’s just how it goes here. We aren't trying to be the most modern place in the world, just a steady school where families can send their children without worrying too much. It’s practical and straightforward. If you come by in the afternoon, things are a lot quieter after everyone heads home. We just tidy up, lock the gates, and get ready to do it all over again the next day. It is a lot of work but it is what we do.
