You can find our little office in Ward No. 10 on Hanuman Path. It’s right along the Bamora Road. It’s a simple building, nothing too special to look at, but it’s where we handle all the farmer business. Most of the people around here are involved in agriculture one way or another, so we stay pretty busy. We help the local guys get their produce ready and find buyers. It’s a lot of back-and-forth on the phone and writing things down in big registers. Sometimes the ink smears or we lose a pen, but we get by. We aren't professionals in suits; we're just guys who understand how hard it is to make a living off a small plot of land. We talk about the weather constantly because it dictates everything we do. The office can get a bit crowded when the farmers come in to get their payments, but we like the company. It’s a straightforward way to work. No big promises, just trying to do the job right and keep the accounts clear. We’ve lived here a long time, so we care about what happens to this town and the farms around it. We spend our afternoons checking the quality of the soybean or wheat that gets brought in. It’s dusty work, and the ceiling fan makes a clicking noise that we’ve just stopped noticing. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s the way things have always been done in Bamora.
