Yashodharman Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically just a group of us from the Mandsaur area who decided we were better off working as one. Ishwarlal’s place over in Rathana is where we keep our records and meet up when there’s something important to discuss. Mandsaur is a good place for farming, but it has its challenges like anywhere else. We started this because we wanted to have more control over our own crops. Before this, we were all just doing our own thing and hoping for the best when it came time to sell. Now, we can pool our resources. It’s not always easy to get everyone on the same page, but we’re getting there. We talk about what seeds are working best and when we should be planting. There is no corporate office here, just muddy boots and people who know what it’s like to work in the fields all day. We use simple tools and we rely on what we’ve learned from our fathers and grandfathers. Being part of this company means we can buy things in bulk, which helps save a little bit of money here and there. Every rupee counts when you’re a farmer. We don't use big words or make huge promises. We just try to help each other get a better yield and a better price. It’s a quiet way of making life a little bit easier for the families around here.
