We are located in Polai Kalan, at the home of Vishnuprasad Jagannath. Shree Shailendra Farmer Producer Company is a local thing, mostly just neighbors and family friends working together. Polai Kalan is the kind of place where everyone knows your name and your father’s name too. Our office is really just a part of the house where we keep the ledgers and the registration papers. We spend a lot of time outside or in the storage areas checking on what’s been brought in from the fields. It’s a very simple operation. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words or fancy titles. We’re farmers first. We started this company to help each other out with the selling part of the job. It’s hard to do that alone. We meet up when we can, usually after the sun goes down or early in the morning before the real work starts. The atmosphere is very informal. We might be wearing our work clothes and covered in dirt while we discuss the company’s finances. It’s just the way it is here. We don't have a secretary or a phone system. If you want to talk to us, you just show up at the door. We’re part of the soil here in Polai Kalan and we don't plan on being anywhere else. It’s a tough life sometimes, but doing it together makes it a bit easier for everyone. We have our fair share of arguments about crops, but we always end up figuring it out.
