We are located right in the Block Parisar in Amarpatan. This is Nari Chetna Aajivika Producer Company Limited. It’s a group of women from around Satna coming together to do something for ourselves. We work out of the MPDAYSRLM office area. It’s a busy place with people always coming and going. We started this because we wanted to have more control over how we earn a living. Most of us are from small villages nearby. We do a bit of everything, whatever helps the group move forward. It’s not a polished business with a big lobby. It’s more like a workspace where we figure things out as we go. Some days are loud and full of talk, other days everyone is just focused on their work. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment. We use what we have. It’s about making a living, or "aajivika" as we call it. Satna is our home and we want to see the women here doing better. We don't have a marketing department writing things for us. This is just how we talk. We have our struggles, especially with transport and getting things to market, but we keep showing up. It’s real work by real people who just want to support their families. Being based in the Block Parisar in Amarpatan has its benefits. We’re close to other local offices and people who can help us. Nari Chetna is really about the women here finding their own feet. Satna isn't always the easiest place to start something new, but we’re doing it. We handle a lot of different products depending on the season. Sometimes it’s grains, other times it might be something else the local women have produced. We're still growing and figuring out the best ways to get things moved. It's a lot of talking and organizing meetings. We don't always agree on everything, and things can get a bit loud during our sessions. But that’s just how we work. It’s real and it’s honest. We don't have a big budget for things like advertising, so we just rely on each other. Most of us have kids and homes to look after besides this work, so we’re always balancing a lot of things. It’s tiring, but there’s a sense of pride in seeing the company name on a bag or a document. We’re just a bunch of regular people from the neighborhood trying to make things better for our families.
