Kisan-E-Poshak Farmer Producer Company Limited

Over here in Betul, at Vinod Pirmu Chunahaju’s place, is where we run Kisan-E-Poshak Farmer Producer Company Limited. It's a mouthful of a name, but really it's just a bunch of local farmers trying to get by. Betul is a place where farming is the main way people live, and we wanted to see if we could make it a bit more stable for ourselves. We handle a lot of the everyday stuff that comes with growing crops in Madhya Pradesh. Some days the sun is too much and other days the rain won't stop, so having a group helps take the edge off. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most of the time, we are out in the dirt actually growing things. We just use the office to organize our produce and talk about which markets are buying what. It’s a practical way to manage things. We try to keep things simple because that's how we know things work best. A lot of the people involved are neighbors or people we've known for years. It's built on just knowing the folks around here and trusting that we all want the same thing—to get our crops sold for a decent price. If you visit us, don't expect a fancy lobby. We’re just a regular group of farmers working together to keep the agriculture in our part of Betul moving forward.
