Jarara Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in the village of Jarara, specifically at the home of Vikram, who is the son of Gayaprasad Kurmi. We are in the 470002 area, which is a place where farming is the main thing everyone does. We started this company because we wanted a better way for the local farmers to get their goods to market without having to rely on too many people in the middle. Vikram’s place is simple and functional. We have a small area set aside for the company books and all the registration papers we had to get. It’s not a corporate office by any stretch of the imagination. Most of the time, we are out in the fields or sitting on the porch talking about the cost of seeds and how the tractors are holding up. When the harvest comes, the whole place gets covered in dust and everyone is moving fast. We don't have any fancy mission statements or things like that written on the walls. We just have a calendar and a list of names of all the farmers who are part of our group. It is hard to keep everything straight sometimes, especially with the government rules always changing, but we manage. We are just local people in Jarara trying to make sure the farming life stays viable for our families and our neighbors for the years to come.
