Our office is really just a part of Rajesh Patel’s place over in Keolari, near Lonikhapa. If you’re driving through the area, you might miss it because it looks just like any other house on the road. Agri Utkarsh Farmers Producer Company Limited is what we call ourselves when we have to sign official documents or talk to the bank. Mostly, we are just a group of farmers who decided to pool our resources together to save money. There’s a big tree out front where we sit when it’s too hot to stay indoors. We talk about the rain, the pests, and the cost of fertilizer. Rajesh has a small room with a metal cupboard where we lock up the important files and some equipment. It’s not fancy at all. There’s a calendar on the wall from three years ago that nobody has bothered to change yet. We spend most of our time out on the land, checking the soil or helping someone with a broken tractor. Agri Utkarsh Farmers Producer Company Limited doesn't have a big staff, just us and a few helpers during the peak harvest season. Lonikhapa is a small place, and everyone knows what everyone else is doing anyway. We try to help each other out when the market prices drop or when the harvest is thin. It’s a simple way of living and working. We don't use big words or have long meetings, we just get things done.
