Vikram Engineering Works

Our workshop is located at 976 in the M.I.E. area. If you know the industrial estate, you know it can get pretty loud and dusty during the day. Vikram Engineering Works is just one of many spots along the road here. We have some heavy machines that make a lot of noise when they are running, so it is never really quiet until everyone goes home in the evening. There is usually grease on someone’s hands and the floor always has some metal shavings that need sweeping up. We don't have an office staff that sits around in suits. Most of us are wearing work clothes that have stains from oil or old paint. The light in the back of the shop isn't the best, so we use some old lamps when we are working on something small. There’s a tea stall not too far away that we go to when we need a break from the heat. The 976 lot is big enough for what we do, though it gets crowded when a big delivery comes in. We just handle the jobs as they come. Some days are packed with work and other days we are just cleaning the tools and making sure everything is ready for the next shift. It’s a plain place for hard work. Nothing more and nothing less than that. We just stay busy and try to keep the machines in good shape.
