Nikhil Engineering Works

Nikhil Engineering Works is located in the Vitthalvadi Gidc area. Being in an industrial estate means we are surrounded by other workshops and the constant sound of manufacturing. Our unit is focused on general engineering work, so we have a few lathe machines, drills, and welding equipment set up. It’s a greasy environment, and there’s always a bit of oil on the floor no matter how much we clean it. We take on various small and medium jobs from other companies in the Gidc or people who need custom parts made. Often, we are working from hand-drawn sketches or just a rough idea someone has. The machines are old but they still work fine if you know how to handle them properly. We spend a lot of time adjusting the settings and making sure the cuts are precise. The heat inside can be tough, especially when several machines are running at once. We aren't a big corporation with departments; we’re just a small group of workers who know how to handle metal. We have lunch together in a small corner of the shop, usually talking about the work or what’s happening in the local news. It’s a lot of physical labor and getting our hands dirty, but that’s the nature of an engineering workshop. We just focus on finishing the jobs on time and keeping the shop in working order for the next day. It’s not always easy, but we’ve managed to stay busy for quite a while now.
