Ultratech Cement Limited , Gcw

This branch is the Gujarat Cement Works, or GCW as most people around here call it. We are located in the Amreli district, specifically out in Kovaya. It is a bit of a drive to get out here, but that is just how it is with cement plants. The air usually has a bit of dust in it and there are always trucks coming and going from the gates. We have been part of the landscape here in Gujarat for a long time. It is a busy place where the work never really stops because the demand for cement is always there. People from the nearby villages work here and it feels like a small community of its own. The office inside the works is pretty basic with old desks and a lot of logbooks. We deal with the logistics and the production side of things mostly. It is not the kind of place you come for a quiet sit-down, as there is always some noise from the machinery or the transport. We just focus on making sure the bags are filled and the trucks are loaded correctly. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when the monsoon hits and the roads get muddy. But we just keep going anyway because that is the job. It is a heavy industrial environment, but it feels like home after you have been here a few years. We do not have a lot of visitors, but we stay busy regardless.
