Our place is at Plot No. 146 in the Gidc area of Vartej. It’s a typical industrial plot, and we’ve been here at Tamboli Profiles Pvt. Ltd. for some time now. The work we do involves a lot of metal profiles, so there’s always the sound of cutting and grinding echoing through the shed. It’s a dusty environment, and we all wear our old clothes because they’re just going to get dirty anyway. We spend a lot of time checking the shapes and making sure they match what was asked for. Vartej can be a busy place with all the other factories around, so there’s always noise and movement. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning. Usually, we just have a few fans going and keep the large doors open to get some air. Our desks are covered in sketches and scraps of paper. Sometimes the machines need a bit of coaxing to stay on track, but we know their quirks by now. It’s not the kind of job where you sit still for long. We’re always moving something or checking a stack of metal. We keep things simple and don’t bother with much talk. If the work is done right and on time, everyone is happy. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living, and we’re glad to be part of the local industry here.
