The yard over here at GIDC Phase 2 is always full of metal. If you come by Amar Steel Ltd., you’ll see the stacks of beams and sheets piled up. It is a noisy place, especially when the trucks are loading up or the overhead crane is moving stuff around. We don’t have any fancy signs or a glass front. It’s just a big industrial space where the floor is dusty and the smell of iron is everywhere. Most of us have been working with steel for a long time, so we don't think much about the heavy lifting. It just gets done. The sun beats down on the corrugated roof in the summer, making it pretty warm inside, but that’s just part of being in the GIDC. We spend our days checking orders and making sure the right grades of steel are going out to the customers. There’s always a bit of scrap lying around that needs to be cleared. We aren't the type of people to talk much; we just get the bundles tied and the paperwork signed so the drivers can get on the road. It’s a basic operation without any of that corporate polish you see in the city. Just a lot of heavy metal and people doing their jobs.
